Cumberland
County is becoming known as not only the golf capital of Tennessee,
but also of the South. With 162 holes, 9 courses, Cumberland County
is blessed with some outstanding golf opportunities. There were over
360,000 rounds of golf played in 1995 in Cumberland County, representing
over a half million players.
We have a wide range of facilities: from private and public, to resort, all offering outstanding golf. Cumberland County golf offers some year-round recreation for all ages and abilities. Some of the county's most breathtaking views can also be found from various tees, greens, and fairways along the Cumberland Plateau. Coming in the
near future are some exciting course additions. Mountain Ridge is
adding nine holes to their current nine to make an eighteen hole
facility. The Heatherhurst course at Fairfield Glade is adding another
nine holes to their current twenty-seven hole layout. Fairfield
Glade is also planning their next course, another regulation size
course or possibly a short, or executive type layout. So even more
golfing opportunities are in the works for Cumberland County. Cumberland
County golf was also a big hit in Golf Digest. Of the "Top
Ten Places to Play in Tennessee", three are located in Crossville.
They include Stonehenge - Fairfield Glade Resort, Heatherhurst -
Fairfield Glade Resort, and Briarwood , Renegade Golf Club. Cumberland
Mountain State Park has completed an eighteen hole Nicklaus facility,
which will be a great addition to our current golf.
