Cumberland County is located atop the Cumberland Plateau in beautiful Tennessee.
It is only hours away from the capital, Nashville , and other large cities, such as Knoxville and Chattanooga.
The center of Cumberland County is within a day’s drive from 70% of the nation’s population.

The Crossville Memorial Airport is a contemporary, corporate facility complete with a 5,418 feet blacktop runway, hangars, charter service, and vehicle rental service. The airport is located less than 80 miles from Knoxville McGee-Tyson International Airport (TYS) and 100 miles from Nashville International Airport (BNA). The port city of Rockwood is also a mere 30 miles for Crossville.

Averitt Express, USF Holland, and Ryder are only a few of the several national freight carriers that service Crossville.

In addition to airports, Crossville has access to several state and United States highways, as well as two major U.S. Interstates, I-40 and I-75. With the numerous transportation alternatives, regardless of the destination, you can get anywhere from Crossville.

The City of Crossville has taken a substantial pro-business approach to the attraction of new industry through development of industrial property and sites. As a result of this effort, land is available right now throughout the city for relocating or expanding businesses. Located just minutes from our airport and I-40, access is ideal to all of our industrial sites.

Adding to its many pro-business advantages is the fact that Crossville is willing to offer win-win solutions for companies looking to move to this location. Just ask our Chamber of Commerce about the many incentives your business can enjoy by choosing Crossville and Cumberland County as a future corporate home. And don't forget to inquire about our available industrial buildings.

Special tax incentives are available from the city and county for qualified companies. State-to-state comparisons show that Tennessee is consistently lower in individual and total tax bills, and the state imposes no personal income tax upon its residents. There are no taxes on individual salaries or payrolls, and Crossville/Cumberland County enjoys a very high bond rating. It's notable that Tennessee also offers business tax credits for machinery, equipment and capital investment. Plus, our franchise tax rates are very low.

Free enterprise and entrepreneurship are alive and well in Cumberland County, and nowhere is it more evident than in the Crossville area. We have what growing companies need to succeed. View our business landscape and you will see industry, transportation, technology and research companies who conduct business nationally and around the world.

The welcome mat is out and our doors are wide open to those seeking new locations to expand or do business. Our Chamber of Commerce, with the leadership of the City and County governments, is ready to offer a wide range of support and resources—everything from demographics to specific infrastructure improvements.

Our well-trained workforce, natural resources and funding assistance are just waiting to be explored. Natural beauty, economic diversity and access to the I-40 and I-75 have allowed Crossville and Cumberland County to attract quality employers.
Cumberland County’s steady and well-planned growth can be attributed to the spirit of cooperation native to this area. This traditional diversified manufacturing segment of the local economy has remained vigorous while strong efforts to enhance the county’s industrial and commercial base has continued.

The positive business climate and the cooperative spirit of its workforce have attracted many companies to the area. They include: Advanced Recovery, Aviagen North America, Benco Sales, Crossville Porcelain Stone/USA (national headquarters), Dana Corporation, Delbar Products (three facilities), Durable Products, Elixir Industries, Flower’s Snacks of Crossville, Franklin Industrial Minerals, GranitiFiandre, Mastertaste, Manchester Tank, MasterBrand, Mizkan Americas, Inc., Monticello Canning Company, and CoLinx: Ina, Rockwell Automation, Reliance Electric, SKF USA and Timken.

Business and manufacturing provide a healthy economic base in Cumberland County. For 2002, the Tennessee Department of Labor and workforce estimated the Cumberland County non-farm wage and salary employment averaged 15,970. Of that number, 2,500 were employed in manufacturing establishments. Total employment of county residents was estimated to be 22,700. Cumberland County’s labor force increased 56.4 percent during the 1990-2002 period.

These companies are located throughout the county producing apparel, automotive equipment, bakery goods, canned foods, ceramic tile, stone and wood products, charcoal and rubber products. This diversity contributed to the personal per capita income of $20,932 (per 2000 census).
The diversified industrial base—which will continue to expand in the future—is but one more reason for Cumberland County’s well-deserved reputation as the Heart of the Plateau.
